Hi all,
I've researched extensively here (Lots of knowledgeable folks!!) and finally came up with a plan to build a studio in my basement.
I may have the terms wrong below so bear with me. :D
The room will be roughly 14x19. I'm going to do the staggered stud walls on a 2x8 floor board. The walls will have RC-1 on the inside studs connected to PAC RSIC-1 clips and acoustical tape between the clips and RC. 2 5/8" sheets of drywall with GG in between and 1/4" gaps on the edges filled with OSI® SC-175 Acoustical caulk.
Studs will be insulated vertically with RC-19.
The ceiling will have RC-2 with above mentioned clips, 2 5/8" sheets of gypsum and stuffed with insulation in the subfloor.
I also plan on making my own panels with Roxul RHT-80.
Now the big question. I keep hearing from my realtor to get permits because of egress. Then I hear from carpentry friends that they will not approve a staggered stud wall. (I'm in Delaware)
Do I forgo the permits so that I can construct the room the way I want it?
I'm curious to hear what steps others have done so that the project goes smoothly.
Any help is much appreciated.
Chris
