Hi, Im new here. This is a great forum with a lot of ideas to build anything. Im currently a Recording Arts Students and when I graduate Im going to make my own studio. Attached is a layout of what Im thinking to do. Its a 25 x 30 feet square box the height is 12 feet. In it I want a lobby, restroom, control room, live room, control room closet and live room closet. The control room, live room and lobby need to be separated like the square I created to isolate them and make it more private. Im looking for any suggestions on my layout. What would you change and why. Anything you would move, make smaller or bigger. The model I did its not great I just started using SketchUp yesterday but I thing it gives the idea. All the help and tips will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, and welcome. First big problem: the control room is not symmetrical. At the very least, the front half should be absolutely symmetrical. Without symmetry you cannot get a clear, accurate, balanced stereo image. You also seem to be wasting space with your diamond-shaped sound-lock, and it creates a rather strange shape in that are of the live room. Overall, I think you could make better use of space by re-arranging the rooms. - Stuart -
