Hi folks,
I'm specing out materials to build one of Rod's super doors. 1/8"steel plate is about 5 PSF and seems to be far more available than sheet lead for me. I was thinking of damping it with green glue, so it would be:
1 3/4 solid core door + GG +steel plate +GG + 3/4plywood or MDF.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Warren
Any issues using steel plate instead of lead for super door?

I don't see why it shouldn't work, as long as you damp it well. Not sure if GG will do that, though. That's not really what it is designed for. Maybe you could contact them directly, and ask if it will work well in that application.

It is fine. The damping is not an issue in this application.
