hi guys! my first post, i'm namik, from bosnia! I've read "read this first" topics and I hope I'm in right place to ask for some help. actually, soon I will finish my college and for about 3-4 years my brother and I have been recording demo records for my friends, and for our band too, so we think, or better said, we want to go a little bit further in our hobby. here's the situation, we don't plan to build some big pro studio, we want to do records for our band and friends, so, some kind of little home studio is what we actually want. we have roland cube 30, two electric guitars, bass guitar and of course, our computer and a bunch of oftware installed in it, and all that in a room here: we live in a small apartment with two rooms (one posted below is the smaller one). painted walls (blue and green) are external walls and they have thermo isolation from styrofoam, and wall thickness of the green painted wall is 47cm and from blue painted wall is 30cm including isolation from the outside, other walls have thicknes from 20cm since they are connected with kitchen, hall and the other room, the windows are also isolation windows (salamander window profile with argon gas inside), and yes, i almost forgot, room height is 263cm. so, i hope i posted enough info about the room, and what we want to do is to make (if possible) a little home recording studio (with two guitars, two amps -roland cube 30 and other one we plan to buy, bass amp, computer, external usb or firewire hardware, some audio monitors), just for our satisfaction and making our (metal) music and music for our friends (metal demo records). i will be glad to hear some suggestions of you guys to help me (i mean is it possible to make a some kind of the home studio in room of this size, are the walls good, is the height ok...), and based on your suggestions in few days i will make a more detailed picture of this future project and post it here too. cheers!

Hi Namik, Welcome! You didn't say what you are trying to accomplish with the room! I mean, do you need isolation (stopping sound from getting in or out of the room), or do you need treatment (improving the acoustics of the room), or do you need both? Also, do you plan to use this room only for practice, or for tracking, or as a control room? Another important point is your budget: how much money do you plan to spend on this? - Stuart -
hello again! well, when we talk about isolation, i need an isolation on the uncolored walls, door and at the window (as i said before, the window is already isolation by itself but it lets a little sound from the outside), and a little of treatment. i plan to practice here (only guitars and bass), but to record too (demo tapes etc...), and budget, hmm, lets see... about 150-200 euros (what i plan to invest in isolation and acoustic treatment because a lot of things i can make by myself in my workshop, so amunt above is just approximately)
