Hello everyone, I have been searching the forum for a diagram or instructions on how to properly hang the layers of drywall. I am planning on puting up two layers of 5/8' on the ceiling and walls with green glue between. My concern is 1)should i put up the first layer of ceiling board first and if so ,am i supose to leave a 1/4'' space at the corners where ceiling and walls meet ? or is that only apply to the floors. There was a diagram on here some time back i think kingfly posted it but i can't find it. Iready to do drywall but i dont want to start then find out its done wrong. I have 1/4'' backer rod and acoustic caulk and drywall read to go,but no clear sequence. Thanks

Nope you have it correct. 1/4" at walls inside and out corners and floors, caulk and then hang second layer and repeat caulk joints. Peace Tom
Thanks Van But i dont know if i follow you. You saying leave 1/4'' at the edge where ceiling drywall meets wall? Caulk , and then put up sheetrock on walls with another 1/4'' space? So that would be two 1/4'' space facing each other wouldn't it be? can anybody do a skethup of this ?
This is probably the diagram you saw..... Ref. Area "How to Drywall & Caulk" Sorry, no link. Gonna make ya work for it ;)
Ok found it . now look at the first layer of drywall #1 it looks like it is suppose to go flush up against the corner where the ceiling and wall meets. then on the walls you leave the 1/4'' space. Am i correct?
