*** Question about the heavy sand stands and decoupling ***

Can someone please explain or confirm what is the best way to arrange the monitors to stand on? I have Opals and Twins. Just finishing my new studio. I won't have any big console in there so I was thinking to make 2 pairs of heavy sand stands. Is this really all what I need or should I add anything else in between the monitors and these heavy stands? I was thinking to maybe DIY a recoil stabilizer as well. Simple thing, cut some thick foam, put a heavy stone above and a thin rubber layer on top. Is this really needed with heavy sand stands or not? Thanks!
