Hello all, Here are the sketch-up pictures from my design. The first has all the dimensions the others are just mulitiple viewpoints to give you an idea of what I am thinking. Some other measurements not included in the sketch up are: +The wedges where the speakers will be impeded will be: 23" deep x 25" wide +The space in between speakers is 84" +The closet in the drum room is 22" deep x 79" wide +The beam in the drum room drops down 9" and goes from one end to the other +The utility room is not finished +I am unsure of the wall depths (forgive me) and they are not included in the sketchup Some other notes: +There is already a drop ceiling in place. The french doors and the door to the recording room are not currently there. +The wall that the french doors are on does not exist yet +The wall that seperates the vocal room from the mix room is not built yet. +All other walls are already finished and up from a previous owner Finally: +Considering moving the drum room where the mixing room is and likewise. +Considering changing the orientation of the mix room to be vertical instead of horizontal Interested in comments and questions. + Really the main one is: Is the drum room to narrow and should I swap the mix and drum room around. + Another is, "Will spray foaming the ceiling/existing walls help or is this a non factor? + Finally, Will outside french doors (meant for keeping outside noise out) help or does it just make the studio look pretty?

Obviously there are no sound proofing elements in the design. Purely the design alone.
New idea with the drum room and mix room switched

I have decided to double the walls with something like gypsum or the like. The ceiling I suppose is also a problem for leaking sound however I plan I putting some ceiling panel acoustic panels above and around the drumset. Plus, the spray foam. Anyone used spray foam and is it a viable option for soundproofing?
Is your ceiling open or finished? Can you see the joists? For sound proofing, use mass, decoupling, and insulation in the cavity. IE; gypsum board & resilient clips. The acoustic tiles may provide absorption in the speech range but not more and will not sound proof. Cheers, John
