Hi, My name is Chris and I'm new to this forum. I am in the process of designing an in-house recording facility for an already-existing rehearsal building. The layout is this:

We have rooms A,B, and C. A is the planned Live room, B will house the control room and possibly a vocal booth, and C is already our office. The ceilings are about 10ft high and can be a bit higher if need to. I'd like to be able to record drums so I'm thinking about building a drum booth, any ideas on placement? I am a newbie at studio design, but I know basic construction and have had a project studio for some time. The goal of the community studio is to record high-school bands in the area, and also provide a place for the bands that already rehearse in the building to record. The walls are already doubled-up with a few inches in the middle stuffed with insulation. All the rooms sit on a shared concrete slab, and the first order of business would be to decide if I should float the floors in the live and control rooms and how to do that. I've read a bit about it, and have considered installing a 2x6 floated floor with a sand base. I'm in Southern Ca. Any suggestions? From Outside

See where the rooms roof ends, leaves a few feet for expansion if needed

Chris- First read the rules of this forum. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3231 You need to include your location in your profile. You need to size your pictures to no more than 700 pixels wide, so everyone doesn't have to scroll left and right trying to read your text. Also, you should include much more detail about your existing walls and ceilings. Are they standard 2x4 walls with 1/2" drywall? If you read around the posts on this site, you'll learn a lot even before you ask. But if you follow the rules, folks will help you. Best of luck on your exciting project!
