I am trying to design the layout for my slightly unusual basement. After digging through hundreds of posts and sketchup files, I couldn't find anything quite like mine.
The basement measures 25 ft by 24 ft and 7 ft high (7.62m x 7.31m x 2.13m). The left side of the drawings below show several things that, for financial reasons, can't be moved. My budget is approximately $3000, but I might be able to invest more in the future.
My nearest neighbor is about 100 ft (30.8m) to the west (right side of drawing). I am mainly interested in recording singer/songwriters but I would like the capability to record a full rock band. I will be using the room-within-a-room design to construct the rooms (once I solve my moisture problem). The basement walls are stone block masonry, the floor is concrete (which will be insulated and covered with laminate), and the ceiling is currently bare floor joists.
I've copied the layout of the SAE control room. The other rooms are very basic sketches on how to create the rooms without parallel walls. These drawings don't deal with how the rooms will be constructed, I am only trying to get a basic layout done before I move on.
Basement 1: This layout features two isolation booths, a smaller live room, and a storage closet. The orientation of the control room lets me see both iso booths, but not tracking room.
Basement 2: This layout has one large isolation room, a larger but awkwardly shaped live room, and a smaller control room. The orientation of the control room lets me see the iso room through a window between the soffit'ed monitors, and a very limited line of sight in to the tracking room.
What does everyone think of these layouts?
Do you have any suggestions on how I should design this?

Why not swap ( mirror) iso and control room on basement 2 layout.
Could give the possibility for a larger control room and good line of sights for both iso and tracking rooms.
