Hello everyone,
here's the plan and details about the studio I'm building in my basement.
Location: Granby, Quebec, Canada
Currently, there is no further division in the basement after a water damage (luckily I am covered by insurance). I need to maintain a tool room, a bath (laundry room) and a lounge. I would also like to make use of the live room as practice room (if possible). It is also important to have a control room as large as possible (the most important room in my opinion). Having two amps closet would also be practical for live recording session.
The ceiling is 7 feet tall berore insulation.
I record quite all styles of music, but many rock and metal band.
The soundproofing is not a problem for me, I read a lot on the subject (thank you to this forum). So I try to maximize space, while keeping the best ratios for the best sound.
After three months of research and drawings, I come with this layout, but before I start building, I want to make sure everything is optimal.
Thank you giving me your advice and feedback!
Basement Studio, take 2...!

JF,
Looks ok to me. How much isolation do you require? Recording metal bands can be extremely loud and with that low ceiling you are only going to able to have 'so much' isolation.
Do you plan to build double walls?

Hello
I will actually build double walls and have plenty of material to soundproof my ceiling. (Which eventually will be 7 foot 6 inch free)
after talking with my interior designer, he proposes to change the direction of the stairs, turning right onto the outside wall (lounge side). This gives me plenty of space upstairs, also in the basement. But this way, it seems difficult to make a good plan ... even with more space, it looks like the previous one was better. What do you think?
I always keep a space for a bathroom, a lounge and a tool room. My goal is to have a control room, the largest live room that is possible, a vocal booth and two amp closet.
