Hello all,
Newb here.
Referring to Front Wall here:
Okay, from what I gather, i should put wrapped rigid f/g across the corners 16 in. at it's greatest distance, is this correct?
If so, is it also most advantageos to put membrane traps directly next to it on both sides? Or should the membrane traps go in place of the "wrapped only" rigid?
Thanx in advance.
?Basstrap/absorber positioning?

It has become painfully obvious that I didn't include enough info... Sorry!
I have 2inch thick, 3 pound per foot rigid fiberglass available.
It is an irregular room. Picture two contiguous rectangular areas, one 8.5 X 8ft adjacent to a 11 X 10.5ft. area. Ceilings are approx. 6.5 ft.
The "front wall" would be in the 8.5 X 8 portion.
I guess the real question here is, will the absorber panels spaced 16" from the corners as previously described be sufficient to defeat early reflections?
Bass traps on the rear wall (corners?) then?
I thank you in advance for your help.
Rio,
Yes, cover the corners - all of the corners, not just the front or just the rear - with rigid fiberglass. Two inches thick is okay, but doubling them up to make each panel four inches thick is even better. And don't forget the ceiling corners.
And yes, you can use the same type of panels flat on the walls to catch early reflections.

I am fairly new here but have been interested in acoustics for a long time. I love what so many of the folks here have done.
To whomever can answer I have a related question about Bass Traps and Placement of the same. Per Ethan's constant encouragement of treating "All" room corners I have a question about what I would like to try on the "Wall-Ceiling" corners of my home studio.
Due to some space limitations I wanted to make some "Mini-SuperChunks". I would take a 24"x24" by 2" thick OC703 Panel and cut in half 2 times diagonally. the Result would be 4-24" wide and 12" thick (at the center) mini-superchunks that would line the entire span of my 11' 3" x 16' 6" studio
where the walls meet the ceiling.
My Current Setup: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11786
These would be identical to the corner superchunks listed elsewhere on this site, albeit a smaller version along the ceiling.
Would this be as effective as hanging the other type of bass traps diagonally over these same corners?
I know it would look nice and save some space.
Any thoughts Ethan?
Thank you in advance for your reply(s)
To me, that sounds like it should work pretty well, but Ethan is The Man to ask about bass traps!
If both are 24 inches wide at the front surface, then both should absorb similarly, with the filled version being slightly better. --EthanWould this be as effective as hanging the other type of bass traps diagonally over these same corners?
Perfect. Then that is the approach I will take. The 24" faced wedge-chunk.
Thank you for your reply.
Regards, Robert
I will take some before/during and after pictures and post them in the next few weeks after I begin the process.
