Hi everybody,
I want to design my tracking room with variable acoustic. Size: 40 sqm
My idea is to build the tracking room with several materials, and to get different acoustics. Build the walls with stone, wood, crystal, and mobile absorbent panels. Or also with mobile panels of stone, wood or others.
I want to get a tracking room with brillant acoustic, semi brillant or wet sound, dry sound, or super dry ambient, for all aplications in the recording studio and instruments.
Which materials do you put in each wall?
Which material is the best suitable for the floor? wood?
Any idea for my design?
Thanks you very much!!
HELP - Traking Room design with Variable Acoustic

John,
Your questions are a little too general for an accurate response. Have you read 'Recording Studio Design' by Philip Newell & 'Master Handbook of Acoustics' by F. Alton Everest? -- Recommended reading to get the answers your are looking for, unless you want 'opinions'. And, as you know, we all have opinions. haha. I prefer to give facts and let you come to the proper conclusions.
Usually when I design a 'variable acoustics' tracking room, I will usually go for a 50% swing on either side of 'balanced'. The totally dead and totally brilliant are not all that usable in a tracking room, IMO. The exception being small vocal booths, which should be totally dead with plenty of trapping to remove standing wave effects.
You could probably get what you want by hiring a designer (PM John Sayers here) but neither the design nor the construction will be cheap. 8)
Cheers,
John
