Hi, I have a rehearsal studio that is approx 20'x12' and 8' high. The carpet in it is worn so was going to replace it. Just wondering if I put in a wood floor is this going to make the room a lot more 'live' sounding? I have a number of traps on the walls and overall, I'm happy enough with the sound of the room for rehearsal use, but would changing to wooden floors be a bad thing? Thanks.
Putting in hardwaood floors would make the room sound more live. It is generally considered "bad" to have carpet in recording spaces, because carpeting absorbs the high frequencies, but not the mids and lows. Carpet makes the room sound "dull" with less high freqs. Hardwood flooring would be a good thing.
Thats the answer I was looking for. Thanks!
