Hey all,
Exciting times, me and a friend are making a studio from a garage, typical I hear you say, but I want to do this properly. I am a perfectionist, and a full time audiophile.
I have been doing room mode calculations for potential room sizes, and its driving me mad, and I wanted some time off, so thought I would post a question here. First off, I am Will, from the UK, and have a degree in Sound Engineering and Music Production, and am currently looking for a space to expand my current knowledge, and hopefully have some fun in the process.
My question, I have some left over floor tiles from the house renovation recently, and was wandering if this would be too much reflection-wise for a live room? I am looking to have atleast a single wall with hardwood, as I want a fairly natural/neutral live feel. But with the versatility to completely deaden the sound if need be. I have a fairly good grasp of acoustics already, but am more than willing to learn from you lot.
What sort of material ratios are good for a live room? Generic size as I haven't got EXACT measurements at the moment, but any advice you can give would be much appreciated. As a guestimate the floor area overall is around 80 cubic metres.
I will be acoustically treating both the live room and control room with panels, and know how to go about that, but am looking at the construction side of things at the moment.
Thanks all
Will
Live Room

The live room will be approximately 80 cubic metres. Assuming I put a ceiling in the high rise roof at 2.2m.
Could a mod delete this post, I will repost with all the required information when I am a little further in to the construction of it.
Thanks
