Size = 21'4"x19'x7'6" *excuse the mess. also I have Adam A7X monitors on order so ignore crappy rokit 5's as well. The room used to be a garage, but it was turned into a room. The walls are mostly fabric with fiberglass insulation behind it. The wall with the gold colored fabric in the picture with the door just has polystyrene insulation behind it. The ceilings just have thick blankets on them hanging down. You can see the pictures before the traps/plywood floor here: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/studio-building-acoustics/495826-adding-wood-strips-my-soft-walls.html So I bought 24 sheets of AFB from ATS Acoustics and put them in frames with the cheapest fabric I could find. I covered up the wall with just the polystyrene with several frames of 2" insulation. I have 4" bass traps in all of the corners, and I have 2 4" 2x4 panels along with 1 2" 2x3½ above the drums as a cloud. I also put up some foam around the listening position where the early reflection points are. The biggest difference actually came from moving my monitors to the edge of the desk, as all of the sound bouncing off of the desk and monitor had a major negative effect on the sound. Also the listening position is now 38% into the length of the room. I'm not quite done yet though, as I still want to get the reverb in the room to sound a bit fuller and nicer. I am thinking of getting some strips or bent poly boards on the walls. Should I go for wood strips, bent poly boards, or a combination of both? What are my options as far as cheap DIY diffusion is concerned? How do I decide upon what the RT60 of the room should be? The reverb calculator says everything is around .2 I should note that the fiberglass behind the fabric on the walls has the paper facing out which reflect high frequencies, and the blankets on the ceiling do actually absorb a good bit of high frequencies. Also the primary concerns in this room are recording drums and mixing music. I also record vocals and mic some other instruments from time to time too. Thanks! :D
