Hallo from Greece!
I have a small room (3.56m x 3.42m) and is the only option available in my building to setup a sound studio.
The exact shape and dimensions are in the attached file (the design isnt perfect, i've just learned today the basics of sketchup!).
I would like to setup two rooms, if possible: a booth to record voiceovers (one or two persons max) , and a control room to mix tv/radio commercials and documentaries.
Isolation from outer noises isn't a great issue because it's generally a quiet room.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you all!
PS. i'm afraid i have to keep the kitchen cabinets because i'm renting the place
Small post production (please help to sovle the riddle!)

Dizz - trying to fit a control room and a vox booth in that small space is really impossible. I'd concentrate on treating the room as a good mixing space and record you V/O project in the same room using headphones. I have a friend who won international awards using that technique - he claimed he had better communication with the V/O artist that way.
John, thank you for your answer
The problem is that i'm working on advertising and most of the customers like to be present, when doing the V/Os for their products. This means that there is a chance to have 3 of 4 people at the same room and they actually want to "see" a vocal booth. I think i have to find a larger space, but could you suggest a small sized control room/booth arrangement for me to know what room size i m searching for?
thanks again!
I'm posting a rough design, trying to fit 2 rooms in my existing place. Please tell me if it's worth trying building it.
(John I really really need 2 rooms)
Thanks
dizzz - you said you couldn't move the kitchen cabinets.
John, I was thinking to actually "inclose" the cabinets inside the voiceover booth and maybe cover them in there with acoustic panels/fabric.
I am posting a comparison of 3 plans/orientations (the bottom right is with the inclosed cabinets), please tell me your expert opinion
Thanks again for your feedback
I'm leaning on this setup. Please give me your comments and advice for acoustic treatment.

Like this dizzz with angled walls - heavy trapping front and back and in the ceiling. You can even put some aircon in the ceiling space in the alcove between rooms.
John, this is exactly what i needed!
My question is about the middle wall. Do you think a double wall is enough to isolate the booth from the c/r or I have to float the booth? It's really a space issue because if I float the room I have to build all four walls.
Dizzz
Dizz - this is a case for a single wall and green glue. No need to float a floor.
Hallo again!
I made a sketchup model, following your plan. Here's the link (it's ~4mb)

John if you don't mind, a couple of questions before I start building:
1. I suppose (from what I've read in your recording manual) that I have to build the wall frames on the floor and then lift them on walls, right? What about the 2 big frames (~3.4m) ? Is it wrong if I build them in 2 pieces each and then align them on walls?
2. I just rest the wall frames on the concrete floor, without having anything underneath them?
3. What about the joints between walls? If I just put green glue between the gaps would be ok, or is it better to redesign some of them (angle studs edges)?
Thanks for your precious help!
You don't have to build the walls on the floor as you can access both sides of the wall. You forgot to put in a door to the booth from the control room and the window. Just follow the plan I posted as a pdf.
I 'll add them now, I was anxious to finish it,trying to chatch up to you! :)
So, for the floor, I suppose I only need a base framing for the walls, to start lifting them, right?
Dizzz
yes
hallo again,
I m trying to finish a sketchup model with all the construction details, but I am having some issues concerning the joints in the corners. I did some efforts but none seems right to me. Maybe I could put the double drywall on the outside of the booth (I think this will make things easier) or is it totally wrong?
thanks again,
Dizzz
dzzzz - the sketchup file i posted shows where everything goes. - just build it! :)
