Hi All, I just relocated to Kampala Uganda to work with an Organization that has a recording studio. The studio was built 5 yrs ago and is all concrete. The walls are all concrete block with a layer of concrete on the outside roughly 12" thick all together. We would like to be able to track a full band and also have space for a youth choir of about 15 to 20. The music we do is mostly African with a heavy western influence. Noise is not an issue as the studio is located on the top floor above and behind an auditorium with 40ft ceilings. I have between 5k and 10k to work with. The walls and ceilings of the large room are covered with 1" pine wood. The floors of the entire facility are also 1" wood pieces. There are panels of Auralex placed throughout the room as well as bass traps in a few corners. The ceiling at it's highest point is 11' 6". That center point is located in between the far control room wall and the far live room wall. With the mix position facing the short wall the ceiling slopes up at an angle left to right instead of front to back. Beside the control room is an office space and then two small rooms housing a sink and toilet. The long room at the back corner is storage. This space is an old stairwell that has been tore out leaving it with a wood floor and is not usable as studio space My questions: 1. Is there another way to lay this out to make the control room more ideal for mixing. I know the dimensions for the current room are not ideal. 2. Would you suggest isolating the control room floor from the tracking rooms.(with wood not cement) 3. I would love to get one or two iso booths in this space for solo vocals and maybe a solo instrument. 4. The ceiling of the control room and live room are slanted (see attached pics). Is there an effective solution for the control room based on the angles of the ceiling. Thanks for all your help and for the great resource this site is. wt
