Hi everyone,
I posted a topic a few months ago, a little too early in the process i guess.
I've done my homework since, and I would greatly appreciate some comments or advice on my near completion design.
The total area for the studio is 40m² (430 ft²)
Dimensions are
length : 10m * width : 4m * height : ~2.40m (33ft * 13ft * 7.9ft)
The empty space eight is approximate at this moment, cause i need to break the actual slab and redo it; but will be at least 2.35m.
This area is separated in a control room and a tracking room and is higly inspired by the "small studio" and other John's great designs.
Here are the dimensions averaged and their ratios for the two rooms :
dimensions - ratios - nearest musical scale
CR
3.99m (13.1ft) - 1.77 - 7/4 (minor seventh)
3.72m (12.2ft) - 1.65 - 5/3 (major sixth)
2.25m (7.4ft) - 1
TR
5.387m (17.7ft) - 2.39 - 6/5 (minor third)
3.72m (12.2ft) - 1.65 - 5/3 (major sixth)
2.25m (7.4ft) - 1

Thanks a lot for your time,

Looking good :D
Thanks !
I have a specific problem : I don't how to dimension the ceilling beam.
On the actual skp it's a 20cm*5cm beam (2*8in).
Looks good Bij! It's a funny thing about this forum - if you post something wrong you'll get immediate responses, but if it looks right then everyone sits back & watches. Congrats on taking the time to study up, learn Sketchup, and get it right.
About the ceiling beam, you need to find span tables for the timber available in your area, to see what you'll need to support the load. Your timber supplier should be able to help. Here in Australia I would use LVL beams (laminated veneer lumber) for those. The manufacturer publishes span tables as well as software which tells you what size it needs to be, based on your span & load.
Of course, it may also be more economical to use something else like steel, especially if you have limited headroom.
Thank you Adam !
I found some tables, but nothing usable in this case.
My father in law is doctor of civil engineering, and I just ask him if he can calculate this for me when he had time.
I had in mind to use standard wood beam, not laminated or steel beam, but I will search this way too.
Your studio seems perfectly fine!!
Just go well with the build, and have fun!
Nothing to comment really.. great design
Thanks for your encouraging words Javier !
:? ummmm, could you explain this a bit. What does the ratios of the two rooms have to do with a musical scale? Thanks. Here are the dimensions averaged and their ratios for the two rooms : dimensions - ratios - nearest musical scale
Cause I have partially determined the ratios with the help of this study from Wes Lachot :
