The sky is blue.
Why is the LR not isolated? Read the stickies.
It's going to be a storage closet.
It's going to be a storage closet.
The biggest room in your entire facility is going to be a storage closet? You must need to store a LOT of stuff! That one room is bigger than all the other rooms combined. - Stuart -
I didnt pick up on LR. I thought you meant the room in the lower right, not "liveroom" I just signed up and haven't learned the forum shorthand yet :)
I'm looking for comments on use of space, not construction elements my silly sketchup might be missing.

That would have been nice to know in your original post! If you don't say what you are looking for, and don't give any information at all, and don't ask any questions, then you probably won't get meaningful comments on your thread. That's also the reason for Brien's comment, I reckon: It makes perfect sense, in response to your first post! :) Maybe you should read the stickies again. - Stuart -
I am pretty certain the sky is blue. "I'm looking for comments on use of space, not construction elements " You have a lot to learn as these go hand in hand. By the way, your overall isolation is guess work, I think your ability to see from one room to another should be revised, and as mentioned, the sound generated in the LR is leading directly upstairs. Just a few things I might mention, were I getting paid for this :)

Actually, it isn't blue: It only looks that way, due to Raleigh scattering... :) (You just KNEW I had to have a smart-ass comment, even for the sky being blue, didn't ya, Brien!!!! :) :!: ) But I sure do agree with your sentiments: The sky sure is plenty blue here. And the design has a few flaws that cloud be improved. - Stuart -

Wow, that is a great looking modification!!!
Thanks. I think I just need to make it so none of the adjacent double walls run parallel to each other.

i asked about this in another forum and was told this makes no difference. But it makes sense that the 6inch space between two walls (room within room) not be parellel (8 inches at one end and 5 at another for example) can anyone shed more light on this? thanks

If a tedious testing process were done on a room with the numbers you presented here, the five inches of space wind up being the weakest part of the wall (because it is the closest) in the walls isolation ability. So any thing gained from the eight inches is effectively reduced to the five inches. The largest >consistent< distance between the hard boundaries is always recommended. What might be happening is that with parallel walls people make attempt to eliminate them (the parallel walls on the inside of a room) to get rid of flutter echo and help with added diffusion. Maybe you are thinking about this, may I say, inside out?
