Hi everyone my name is Orlando,
I've been reading a lot from this forum & I must say you guys are awesome!! :D I just moved into a town-house (rental) with a fully finished basement, dropped ceiling, floor to ceiling drywall & a painted concrete floor.
I have neighbor on the opposite side of me, the wall connected to the stairs.
From reading the posts on this wonderful site I pretty much know how to treat the room with traps and such, but I'm unsure of a layout or what would work best for this area.
My main concerns are the egress window and back wall of doors (6) & the sprinkler system that hangs 2" from the dropped ceiling.
My studio would be use mainly for music production, mixing & tracking vocals (I produce music via laptop & my wife is a singer), no bands at this time. I'm not sure how loud I am yet (I'll pick up a meter this weekend). My ceiling from floor to ceiling is 7'6" & in one area it drops to 6'11" as you will see on my .skp and video. My budget as of now is $1k max. until more rolls in.
I hope that I included all the necessary info in the .skp & video that will warrant some help. Thanks in advance guys.
P.S.
SketchUp 7 is a hell of a program, thanks for turning me on to it.
Here's also a video of the layout:

Hello everyone,
I've been reading some more posts and I came across these control room set ups - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13536 - and I wondering would these work even with me having an egress window. I really like John's idea of the stand alone traps behind the sofa. I'll attach a .skp file after I work it out in sketchup.
thanks again..
Hi Orlando - Thank you for an excellent presentation of your proposal.
here's suggestion for a layout in your space - It's tight isn't it :)
John...Wow thank you for your quick response..my wife and I are more than happy with the layout that you suggested. This is what we will go with. My only questions are what type of glass doors and what type of window do you suggest?
Once again Wow..Thanks John!
well I suppose you'll need an egress window similar to the existing one as it's your escape in case of fire.
Standard glass doors will get you by but id you can get thicker glass it would help. Unfortunately because you are renting you can't knock down walls :) I 've just removed the door off it's hinges to use the cupboard as a vox booth.
BTW only one of the doors need be glass for visual between you and the singer.
Built the place inside/out construction to get plenty of absorption in the rooms.
