I have a room within a room that is 10' (ceiling) x 22' x 15' and is double wall insulated. This room is to be used for recording of music in the traditional sacred and classical genre. I am looking to keep the floor with a hard surface and make the ceiling absorbent. I would appreciate suggestions on doing this. For example, should I place a drop ceiling with acoustic tile and insulation above the tile just below the hard ceiling?
Also, what kind of reverb times would you look for in a room this size? Is a reverb time of 1.2 seconds a reasonable expectation to achieve in a room with these dimensions?
Thanks for your time and help.
Regards,
AB

AB - why don't you have a play with the Reverberation Calculator

Based on the calculator, I come up with anywhere from .39 to .45 seconds with a suspending ceiling. Being my floor will be a hard wood floor, I am assuming that it would be good to put a suspended ceiling below the hard ceiling to avoid the ceiling to floor reflections.
