Hey everyone, I always read this forum but this is my first post. Hopefully some nice people will give me advice with my garage conversion that I will be starting soon. I make dance music completely ITB and so I am only building a writing/mixing room, which is good cos it aint the biggest space at 16'6"L x 8'4"W x 6'6"H at the edges, rising to about 8' in the middle (sloped roof). I would like to be able to create release quality mixes in this room. I know it isn't going to sound perfect but if it was something that i could get used to and work with then great, basically i'm after the best results that this space can offer. Currently, the garage is of single brick construction with concrete slab on the floor. Isolation is not necessary for me as it is detached, but it is cold so I need to get it warmed up in there. My plan is to build a partition wall at the back to block off the garage door. I cant brick it up as i want to be able to change it all back when we come to sell the house. Im also thinking of laying DPM on the floor then laying kingspan or equivalent with a chipboard layer on top followed by probably a laminate floor. As for the walls, i will either put 2"x2" batons up and fill with rockwool then drywall over, or i could build a new timber frame separate from the outer wall, again insulating and drywall on top. The second option will eat into the space in the room more, but if it wont have a negative impact on the acoustics then i don't mind. With the ceiling i was thinking about drywalling up the roof line and bass trapping the peak, but I could also create a flat ceiling and fill the void will mineral wool, but this would mean the ceiling would be 6'6". Not ideal, but i'm under 6' so if it is the best option acoustically then that is what i will do. There is a normal size door on 1 of the 16'6" walls which I will be using for access, and finally there is a window on the opposite wall to where the garage door which i will be closing up is. Again, if acoustically it is the best option to insulate and board over this window then i'm fine to do it. There will be no natural light in there if I do but i'm sure that is quite the norm for studios? Any comments on everything i've mentioned will be greatly received, and very much appreciated. Ultimately I am trying to get the flattest possible response, and it all gets a bit confusing for me when trying to understand room ratios, room modes etc. Thanks in advance peeps

Err... I'm not sure. Who is "the" dan Kelly? That probably answers your question, haha. Excuse my ignorance, but were you referring to my location not being listed? I think I have rectified it now, sorry. I can't get photos yet as I havnt moved in yet but I will do a sketchup and upload that asap. Thanks
