Hi, thank you so much for the site and the forum. My name is Samudra and I am coming from Germany. Background: I am an hobby musician since several years. Mainly I play keyboards and from time to time I am a vocalist. On studio building I am a totally newbie. Wishes/Needs: I want to build a recording and mixing room (for stereo) in the basement. It is used to play with my synthesizers, vocal recording, mixing, graphic design and programming, so it should be comfortable. Mainly I use Logic, a mixing console is not present. Existing construction: The room is in the basement of an old textile factory (3,30m x 6,10m x 2,80m height). The walls on the outside are 36cm thick and made from massive brick. Inside exists 2 drywalls with 75mm insulation and 12,5mm gypsum board on each side (single). The floor is concrete (25cm) and planned to be wooden. The ceiling is made of wood and 80mm styrofoam and is planned to made renew. On the level above is my flat. Stage of work: I am in the early stage of designing the room to get the most succesfull solution for me. Budget: Around 1000 Euros... Problems: As you can see, the room metrics are not so good. I have seen Johns layouts for small studios, but I dont want to seperate this room into two. Actually, I need help on designing: * Whats the best room partitioning for my needs? * Where to put my desktop, the monitors and the sofa? * Should I slope the ceiling? * Where to put the bass traps, absorbers and resonators (if needed)? I would appreciate all comments and suggestions. Thank you in advance Samudra
