basshanger absorber made of gypsum and foam

Hi, may be, it's a bad idea. But if I'm sure, I wouldn't aks... Due to reusing some avaiable stuff I wonder, if it is possible and useful to construct bass hangers by gluing some kind of studio foam (http://www.auralex.com/acoustic_foam_so ... nomatt.asp) on both sides of a gymsum board and use this as bass hangers? Bad Idea? Thanks Thomas

Hi thomas Yes it will work, in some way, but foam is expensive. I used some hangers build from 12mm Spanplatte wraped with some thin insulation (Baumarktstandard) in my last project, and it worked very good down to 40hz. Much better than a 70cm deep superchunk!
