Hello from Menlo Park, California, USA
I recently purchase a used older Whisper Room (8 years old). Currently, the room is assembled and held in place with a set of nylon straps and plastic buckles. This does not seem safe to me given the weight and size of the panels. I would like to attach something to the panel seams (wall to wall, or corners) to enhance the structural stability of this room without sacrificing its sound isolation abilities. The few ideas I have collected attaching metal plates with steel lugs drilled through the panels, attaching high-strength straps + ratchets (enhanced version of current design), or attaching external 2"x4" boards in some pattern to bolster the structural integrity.
The external dimensions are 8'x8'x7.5'. The box consists of essentially
- 8 wall panels of approximately 4' x 6.5' x 4" (variation for door/window panels)
- 2 floor panels of 4' x 8' x 8 "
- 4 ceiling panels of size 8'x2'x4"
I am not certain of the panel construction, but I suspect it is two layers of MDF with possibly cotton batting in between with some sort of internal framing.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Dirk
