Hi I need to construct a window in my CR which will act as a fire exit in case of the unthinkable. This window will be part of the inner leaf of the room. A second fire rated window is already installed in the outer leaf and this opens out to the outside world. The window in the outer leaf is double glazed and i didn't have any choice here as the fire officer insisted on this type of window... a FEW PHOTOS The frame of the inner leaf is braced to the outer wall and the drywall is hung on RC. There will be 2 layers of drywall, 1/2" and 5/8" with green glue. From my limited knowlodge I understand that i need to build what is essentially a door with glass in it that will open inwards into the room. Following the technique set out in rods book for door construction i have ended up a bit confused about a few things so here are my questions... 1. Because the drywall for the inner leaf is on RC Do I need to come up with someway to decouple the new window frame from the existing stud frame which the rc is screwed into? 2. How thick should the laminate glass going into the new window be and should it be a single or double glass window design? 3. Does the already installed double glazed window pose any problems, am i dealing with a triple leaf sinario or where do i stand? 4. And finally, does anyone have any plans already drawn up for this type of window construction... Any advise, much appreciated Warm regards hally :|
