First off, yes I read the sticky and the posts on caulking.
My question is the one that Sharward posted that didn't get an answer, even in the sticky.
How do you caulk outside corners? The same as inside corners or is there a difference? I can't imagine there would be, but better safe than sorry.
Thanks!

outside corner caulking

I didn't read the specific sticky because, well, I'm lazy;) So I'm gonna w.a.g this.
If an outside corner exists on a sheetrock sheathed wall, and they will on occasion, the layers will overlap at the end of the panels, on mine, I caulked it just like it was any other caulkable joint.
The final layer of sheetrock that made the last outside corner, I used mud and tape on it, but my inside corners were still caulked, even the last layer, and then painted.
That is from my experience so it could be done several different ways and I think that this could be as correct as another version reaching towards the same goal.
It wouldn't be of any use to caulk the outside corner in the final layer because acoustical caulk doesn't dry so it would always be a potential problem from brushing into the corner.
Thanks
My 1st experiance of caulk notdrying-
I currently have a inside out wall laying down ready be raised into postion.
Last week we had a few 36 dec days and the acoustic caulk has disappeared into the joins!
I asume it's just worked it's way down, so I'll re caulk and hope for the best.
Very interesting :!:
Did you use backer rod behind the caulk Ms Lilith?
