Hi everyone-- The big room at my place is rough 20 x 20 (irregularly shaped) with 12 ft ceilings. All surfaces are brick and drywall. IT sounds pretty cool for the music we are working on here, but it's a little "woomfy" -- I routinely roll off ~500 Hz on the board when recording drums. So here's the question. I am in the process of building a booth, which is essentially part of the live room structure. (I know my technique is far from "right", but I'm doing my pragmatic best here.) Will the iso booth function as a bass trap? It's fairly thin drywall, and is stuffed with Owens 703. Also, since my wife and I live in an adjoining space, we need to store our junk above the booth. We would like to cover that space above the booth with sliding doors. They would be hung from the ceiling on a track. I was thinking we'd make them of a 2x2 frame, stuff them with 703, cover in burlap, and then put a piece of plywood on the big-room-facing side. Would that also help to attenuate low frequencies? Here is what the room looks like in the live room, facing the booth:

Thanks in advance! Matt Walsh
PS -- it's usually not that messy! As I said, we're in the process of renovating a bit! ;)

damn yanks? you can't *actually* respond but have time for a snarky comment... jesus. i'm not even sure which of the rules i violated, except for image size and location, but i appreciate the "friendly" introduction nonetheless. thankfully, i believe i found the answer from snarky comment guy's tagline. matt w
