Great site just wondering if this is possible i have 2 rooms adjacent each other in one room i want to use as a control room and the other i want to build a vocal booth My idea is to put a window in the wall that seperates the rooms and build the vocal booth behind the window so the control room can see the artist in the booth and vice versa

I guess its possible
It's impossible.
It's impossible.
Why is it "impossible"? How could you possibly know that, without seeing any of the details of what the person wants to do, such as the typ of recording he has in mind, and the degree of isolation he wants to achieve? Like Javier said, it might well be possible. No reason to be so negative, without hearing the details.

Thank you for taking the time to respond my studio is for hip hop recording the vocal booth i am making myself but the main concern i have is the control room the measurements of the room are 9ft by 7ft 2" and from floor to ceiling is 7ft 9" the walls are concrete i would like to completely soundproof this room any ideas
Hi Simbo. Welcome. When you say "soundproof", do you mean that you need to isolate the control room from the outside world? In the sense that you have to stop loud sounds from getting into your room, and also stop stop your own sounds from getting out of the room, annoying the neighbors, family, etc.? If so, then you need to build a "room within a room" to accomplish that kind of isolation. The good news is that you already have concrete walls around you on all sides, so you should have reasonably good isolation already. That existing concrete shell will be your "outer leaf". The bad news is the size of your room: construction of the "inner leaf" will eat up about 6 inches on each side of the room, and also on the ceiling, so your final ceiling will be rather low, and your small room will get even smaller. Then, once you have isolated the room as above (to stop sound getting in and out), you will need to treat it, so that it sounds good, and can be used as a control room. Isolation and treatment are two very different things. If you can be more specific about what it is that you want to do, then you will probably get more response from folks here. - Stuart -

No READ IT FIRST BEFORE POST?
I havent got a clue were to start
The very best advice I can give you is to read over the forum. Look for threads where people have built things similar to what you need to do, and read over those threads carefully. Also, buy Rod's book, and read that carefully. Design your room in detail, taking care to account for everything, and post your design here for folks to comment on and tell you how you can make it better. Then, when you have a great design, only then start building. - Stuart -
