Hi, I've read the stickies. I will try my hardest to comply with the criterion.
I'm building a simple basement studio on a shoestring budget. No double layered walls with resiliant channel or floating floors, etc. Just a regularly constructed room that might some day be turned into a recreation room if I ever move my recording elsewhere. The room is of a very odd shape with a pole in the middle and different ceiling heights due to bulkheads going around vents and pipes. I've attached a very crude drawing of the room. It's a 7.5 ft ceiling. The pink is showing the bulkheads. The one across the room is at 7 ft. The ones on the side are stepped down. 7 feet high ceiling and then another step before you get to the wall that brings the ceiling down to 6 feet. I hope that makes sense to someone reading. The wall that is on an angle has a door on it that goes to an unfinished laundry room. The black thing in the middle is a pole.
The floor is ceramic tile, the walls are drywall and ceiling is a dropped acoustic tile. The bulkheads on the ceiling are drywalled and finished.
I have lots of 703-like material (Canadian Made, OFI 48). I'm planning on making up panels with 1 x 4's using 2" thick fibreglass panels.
Here is the gear I have..
I have a drum kit, which is going on a riser I'm going to build.
A desk with my rig and near fields.
Padded couch type chair
A couch
2 shelving units, and some other assorted gear ( amps and etc)
My goals are not too finicky. I just want to kill the echo and Tinny room vibe. I want to widen the sweet spot. I play and record, mostly loud rock bands.
So, my question is what size, how many and placement of wall/ceiling treatment panels should I use, and where is the best place to put my furniture?
If I've been remiss in my post here, just let me know. I will respond with any needed info.

hai there.
Strange looking room for sure... is this the view from above?
Can't make good suggestions based on that sketch.
Only thing I can say is to browse the acoustics forum here and find out what's hot or not. Look for Ethan's post and find a link to acoustically dress-up a room. I can post it here for you, but that would be the easy way. Wouldn't it? :)
Do you homework and learn. You'll appreciate it!
cheers, and keep us updated.
It is a floor plan view. (viewed from above)
I will look for the post. Thx
