Is this in any way feasible?

I want to build an isolated drum/small rehearsal room in my garage. The isolated room would be around 2.8 x 7.5m. The only problem is the garage has very low support beams. The lowest one leaves 1.9m between it and the ground. That's pretty low, but if its 1.9m I SHOULD be ok (obviously not ideal though). The problem comes when adding the soundproofing material to the roof of the room, which would leave the height significantly lower. Does the roof NEED soundproofing, and if it does, can it be partially covered, with less where the beams are. eg. attached pic. (I realise the pic doesnt show room within a room which is what it would be: panel -> soundproof material -> gap -> 2nd panel; except the roof would not have the 2nd panel). The garage already gets rid of some of the sound, but I do need a fair amount of isolation (newborn baby right next door). Would this work, at all? If not have you got any other suggestions? I've really got nowhere else to put something like this ><

Bump All I'm really wanting to know is if I really need soundproofing on the roof (well, soundproofing material would be there but no gap/2nd wall). If its not then I can put this idea totally out of my mind without reading through hours and hours of material. Thanks in advance

Here;s a sorta-panoramic view of the place. Its really not ideal but its the best I've got. The beam seen in IMG_4735.jpg is the main problem, the height there is about 1.9m only. The garage door is a bit of a problem too (allowing it to open). Of course as its a garage its filled with junk and tools and bikes but would be cleared out of the studio space, but the 'studio' would only be about half the garage's space, maybe a touch more, to leave space for that. edit: view the pics bottom-to-top is turning clockwise.

bump? :/ A simple yes/no is all I need.
If you are not getting answers to your questions, then maybe you aren't providing enough information! You ask if the roof needs soundproofing: The answer is: For what? What are you numbers? Real decibel numbers, measured with a real sound level meter. How loud are you inside? How loud do you need to be outside? How loud are you outside at present? Do you plan to record? Is there anything noisy close by, like a freeway, airport, railway track, factory, etc.? There is LOTS of info like that you need to provide in order to get answers. Right now, your question is along the lines of Is my string long enough?". The only possible answer is another question: Long enough for what? You might well know all these things, but we don't. Nobody can tell how loud you are or how much isolation you need, just by looking at your photos. - Stuart -
