Hi,
how should the frontwall of a control room be contructed?
I plan to build in my midfield monitors (JBL LSR32) in the frontwall ("soffit mounting").
I have a lot of questions so may be someone can tell me a link. They are surely some kind of FAQ but I could find it.
- How to contruct angled walls best?
- Simply put a hard surface (plasterboard, OSB, plywood) on framing?
- Or make them absorbent, acording to the LEDE principle?
- If absorbent, how. Basstrap? Or simply pyramid foam, glasfiber absorber?
- How to mount the monitors (press fit in the frame)?
I think I understand the main principles, event the mathematics.
But when it comes to contruction details I need some more infos, as you can see.
Any help or link are welcome.
Thanks Thomas

This is a rather daunting read, but check out Paul Woodlock's Build at StudioTips... I think the front wall of the control room is about page 87-ish. (Been awhile since I read it, so I might be off by a few pages)
Well worth the read at any rate.
*edit to correct page where the sofit wall construction begins... ~ page 87
Thomas, you can get super complicated or keep it simple.
Lots of threads around here with easy simple soffit builds. I looked at the recommended thread. He is a CRAFTSMAN from what I can see and the design is uber complicated.. Great GREAT ideas though. Made me rethink my CPU iso box. Think I will build it into the front Control Room wall with a pretty smoked glass door cover for my Interfaces, keeping my pre's, etc... at my control desk. Will allow for even better air circulation for the CPU and a nice Hi-end look. :)
Thanks!!!! LOL....
