Hi, I just wanted to know if placing 2" panels glued to door and covering them with fabric could reduce the sound coming out of the room. A 50% or so could be great. Right now the door has hanged a broadband panel (my listening position puts my left ear in front of the door, that´s the reason I put the panel there). What if I take this out and glue 2" panels to cover all the door. Do you think it could help, it´s better than nothing?. Thanks in advance. Alfonso
No that will not do. You'll attach wool to the door to counteract for reflections. Wool is for absorption, but it don't "isolate". Add a heavy sheet of MDF or anything like that to the door (cover the whole area)
Thanks Ro. That sheet should be added inside and outside, one side will work?. What about materials, do you think plywood will serve or MDF it´s better. Alfonso
MDF has more mass but if want it too really work add a sheet of lead 1.5mm 18kgm2 or 3mm 36kgm2 and then the MDF the seal of the frame for your door is a really important and see if you hinges can support this much mass there are some mass vinyls that can be exterior applied and are cheaper than the lead with good performance
