Im currently in the situation of being able to replace the floor carpets to something else in our recording studio. The big boss wants to put Vinyl down but im against this.
I want to put real wood down.
Which material is best for a live recording studio?
Real wood, Laminate, Vinyl, lino, carpet?
Really need some kind or reason to throw back at them.
Cheers
Mark
Which flooring material to use

I think you just listed them. ;) but carpet does have it's place.Real wood, Laminate, Vinyl, lino, carpet?
WHat sound are you going for?? Perhaps some swatch of carpet you can lay down when you need a darker sounding room. Either wood or laminate for your primary. Both are nice and reflective and give good tone.
I have a ton of drum tracks cut on a laminate floor. All sound great.
Real wood flooring offers a better foot feel, but its price is very high. Laminate flooring is strong abrasion resistant, but thie type of flooring can't make your room more valuable. Carpet is water resitant, but it is more difficult to maintain.
