Running a snake 2 floors down

Hey, I just bought a house and i'm looking to run a snake from my control room 2 floors down to the basement where the live room is. Any ideas on how to do this. I'm guessing I just cut a hole in the wall in the basement, 1st floor, and second floor walls and then just pull the cable up the walls. Will it be ok to drill big holes in the 2x4's if need to get the fan tail through. Thanks for the help! --Justin

Hi again, New house? but same idea as before? I would be cutting off all the XLR's, run the cable then soldier them back on.
