Hi guys, Well I'm planning to make things happen in my garage. Allready some years. Now what happened, the neighbours started building their outside "sitting" area about 5 meters away from that garage. This garage has a single brick wall, which plastering on the inside. Just to make it simple. Is it by anything possible to make it that good so the nieghbours won't have any nuisance when they're sitting there in the garden from the drumming that's going on in the shed? Hope some of you are able to help answer this question. And hopefully also can come with a sort of an idea what I can do best as far as building. The measurements of the garage are 5 x 8 meters. And height is about 2.5 at the straight wall, and 4 to the top of the roof. Thanks, Geert
thats a big question. snoop around for a while online and here. the answer is def out there. but...in general...seal the garage airtight. with acoustic caulk. the ceiling will have less mass then the brick walls i assume...so will any doors or windows. you need to try and match the mass. add drywall to the ceiling (in between joists if you ever want to do a room within a room), get heavy solid doors, get rid of windows or replace with heavy thick glass (probably 2 panes). ok, that will help some. but for a real improvement you need to construct another room inside the garage. with no connections to the outer wall or ceiling. it's really a lot of material to cover here. i suggest getting a book or reading lots online to get the principles down because its not that simple and there are lots of myths out there. i'm always amazed by how many people bring up egg crates!
