Hello to all you fine people on this forum. I’ve been poking around here for a while and I love all the info you guys give. I have an idea I wanna run by you. Would it be possible/practical to have guitar amp iso rectangle area beneath my live tracking room? Possibly two? So I could practice with my drummer and track guitar amps separately. My idea is cutting through the concrete and making amp cab size crevasses to put the amp cabs in, then making wooden lids with recessed latches to put over the crevasse when recording. I’ll keep the amp head out of the “hole” so I could tune it from the room. This idea is to save space and keep the amp quite. Begin your bashing… -Thunder

Tall order. Have you guys ever cut concrete before? No small task. Thing is with a concrete slab is that it is a designed system so to modify it takes more then a demolition saw and a hose with running water. Once you penetrate the slab two things happen. You just changed the load distribution on the concrete and you invite whatever moisture, bugs, etc that may be taking up residence below the concrete into the open area. In order to reestablish a sealed concrete layer you would have to make the opening at least 16 inches wider all around in order to form up and re-pour new concrete. And that is the short version. It's more trouble then it is worth. Maybe building an iso booth would suit your needs?
That's the kind of answer I was hoping to get from you guys. It was just idea to save space really and I hadn't thought of structural stability. I figured it would be a lot of work though. Thanks! -Thunder
