Hi Everyone, I have a good understanding on acoustics and construction, but im not quite sure of the real estate part. im from a fairly large city (toronto, Pop. 3 million) and im really not sure where to even begin looking for a suitable space to build a studio. anyone have any hints that they learned along the way when they started building? is craigslist or similar acceptable? local newspapers? or do i really have to go hunting in more industrial areas to find a place. everyone please share your experiences on hunting for locations. i have been considering a storefront and building a lounge on the 1st floor and building a studio in the basement, and looking for spaces in the industrial areas for units in larger warehouses but i find that these spaces arent advertised nearly as much as say houses or apartments... Thanks for input!

I was looking on craigslist for austin TX and I saw spaces advertised for musicians. maybe the craigslist where you are has something similar? search for "artist lofts" or "art space" go ahead as if you're searching for a normal apartment or house, just specify you will be really loud to whoever is showing you the place.
