Hi! Here's the story. I have a modest home studio set-up in my basement that I use from time to time to do small projects. I will be recording a semi-acoustic Celtic band in a few weeks. Ideally I would like them to set up in one room for a more spontaneous and live performance. However, what I need is something to minimize mic leakage between the musicians, a barrier if you will, but not necessarily total sound isolation. For example, would 4'X6' panels of 1/2" sheet rock or OSB, mounted on some type of stand (picture a lollipop), accomplish what I need? Once again, I'm not looking for total isolation or absorption. I'm familiar with Tim O'Brien's DIY Soundbooth (http://www.palmcitystudios.com/timob...oundbooth.html) and was wondering whether something like this would another viable option? Another idea I had was to make simple 5'X4'x2 frames with plywood or particle board on one side and foam/carpet on the other. I am aware that there are great products (like Ethan Weiner's mini-traps, the Clearsonic acrylic panels etc) just for such purposes, but unfortunately, my budget doesn't support such an outlay of cash. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Matt
hi that link aint working but, "4'X6' panels of 1/2" sheet rock or OSB" wouldn't help much. it would cause reflections in both directions. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10304 there is heaps of cheap panels in this forum,
Thanks for the link. Some quite good info! Matt
