Ok.......so I've got one of these:
Recovered from web.archive.org — originally hosted at http://www.extremehowto.com/xh/graphics/article_images/331200435021_corn8.jpg(sans the blocking).
EDIT: Ok...more like this:
In other words, mine's hollow back there.
So, yes, the outside of it is covered with 1 x 6s and cedar shingles and, naturally, there's a gap behind this corner (where the cedar shingles meet outside).
What's the suggested remedy to this? The hollow-ness of this would create a 3rd leaf, no?
Just to make sure you remember, this outer leaf will be beefed-up (i.e. "sharwarded") and another inner room will be built a foot from the first leaf.
Some sort of fill? Blown in rockwool?
Damn this corner!
Hey thanks for the reply, John.
In regards to the spacing between leaves, (and that's measuring from inner-most side of drywall of leaf 1 to outermost side of drywall of leaf 2----"inner" meaning when you're inside the room, the closest piece of drywall to you, and "outer" meaning when you're inside the room the farthest piece of drywall from you)...........
......If my first leaf is 3 layers of 5/8" drywall (1 7/8" of drywall) and my second leaf is 2 layers of 5/8" drywall (1 1/4" of drywall), that would leave me 8 7/8" inches of space between leaves, right? If I could spare the space, of course.
But I'd like to be as loud as possible.........if possible.
Something along these lines:
