This is my first post here, so first of all I'd like to say Hi to all of you. My name is Felix, I'm 15 years old, and my family have a small recording / mixing studio in our house where we do some drums, guitar / bass, piano, synth, and vocal recording as a hobby. I also do a few things with friends. Anyway, we're moving to Singapore in August and my dad and I have decided that we would like to get the studio room there properly acoustically treated. There are a few things I must mention first - the studio room will be one of the largest rooms in the house (not sure of dimensions yet, something along the lines of 8m x 6m), but it will also have to serve as my bedroom. I would like the most studio space possible, so I will just shove my bed in the corner somewhere :D , but I was wondering if that will be really bad for the acoustics of the room? There will also be a wardrobe along one of the walls, will that be bad too? Also, almost two of the four walls are glass (windows), and the roof is not flat but slightly slanted. I assume these are not good things either? I also need to mention that the room will have to be both the recording studio and the mixing area, unless we can find other arrangements within the house. I've been doing some research lately, and it seems that wood is the best floor type to have. This is good as the room will already have a wood covering. Is carpet / rags a good thing to place beneath the drums to absorb some of the sound? I was also wondering how to calculate which foam panels to put where in the room to get some better acoustics. Are there equations / formulas for this? And could someone please tell me the formula for finding the nodes in a room for given dimensions. Does anyone have any other tips for general recording / mixing and acoustics within a room? I appreciate the help!
