Before I post design/build related questions I want to make sure I have a proper SketchUp model of my blank slate. Is it better for me to start from scratch or use one of John's basement samples and modify it? I've attached a Visio jpg if it helps.
Thanks for any input!
Build my SketchUp from scratch or use one of John's samples?

I suggest you create your own basic slate accurate to at least 1/2" - make sure you include all the jack posts (the curse of basement studios ;) ) plus put in the HVAC ducts - the other curse of basement studios :) Include any windows you may have and any other pipes ot plumbing running through the ceilings.
Thanks John! I realized after reading Rod's book that I have to take into account everything - including the current electrical work run in the joists. I'm off to a long night of SketchUp work.
