Threating a recording / rehearsal room.

Hi all! So I threated my recording / rehearsal room with Rockwool 433 HP. It's density is 70 kg/m3, it's 120mm thick and includes a piece of aluminium foil on the top. Similair to OC FRK. I made 6 panels of 30 (width) x 120 (height) and spreaded them around the listening area without air airspace at the back (see plan). The FRK facing is at the back of the wall. We (all bandmembers) coul all hear difference in decay and frequency response. But when I did some test with Fuzzmeasure, the results were not really that exciting. According to Fuzz I even had cause peaks on other spots in the spectrum (see difference plot, the plot shows the difference as regards the unthreated room). So my question is could one of you guys help me out with understanding this paradox? Thanks!

I'd say that you need bass trapping in the corners! Lots of it! I'd start by building a large floor-to-ceiling superchunk bass trap in each of the four vertical corners, and if that isn't enough, then I'd go for some of the other corners. I'm also wondering why you have that huge speaker in the front right corner: Worst possible place for a speaker. It is mot likely exciting all of the room modes related to that corner! I recokn you need to get it out of the corner, and away from the walls. Ditto for the other speakers: they are pretty close to the wall, by the looks of it. You also need a cloud on your ceiling, absorption on your first reflection points, and your room doesn't look symmetrical. (Lack of symmetry isn't causing your response problems, but you cannot mix successfully in a badly non-symmetrical control room). Your initial treatment did flatten the curve, by the way. It is noticeably better. You just don't have enough of it! But 70 kg/m3 is not optimal anyway: too dense. You need about 48 kg/m3. - Stuart -
