I did some searching for this question to avoid a post but I couldn't find anything quite relevant. I want to use sliding glass doors so it'll double as a window, and a door. But I don't know if there's a reason not to use standard patio doors and double up and make sure it's extremely well sealed. Any help to yay or nay this idea would be greatly appreciated.

In ordinary patio doors the glass probably won't be thick enough to gie you good isolation, and it will possibly resonate at frequencies that cause trouble. Also, the seals probably wont be good enough for good isolation, although I guess you could probably fix that by adding additional seals yourself. Look at John's designs using sliding glass doors, and search the forum for the specs of the ones he uses, especially about hte glass thickness and the double seals. - Stuart -
