Hi,
I'm thinking to build a studio in my auxiliary building. It was an old cow and pig barn with storage room above.
It's framework with 12cm beams and clay, brick and porous concrete bricked frames.
The roof are only beams with roof tiles at the moment.
1. Question: Can it be done to get such isolation that I can play drums or guitars at 120dB (?) at midnight without disturbing the neighbours 20m from this building? What has to be done approximately (room in room of course).
What are the cost approximately?
2. The control room shoudl be situated above what's today the garage (the 3mx5m storage room). The problem is that the floor of it are only some 12cm-8cm wooden beams with wooden floor planks and lime plaster as surface. I'm not a structural engineer but I can guess this would not carry a room in room contruction with such isolation. Is quiter that drums and git amp, sure, but listening at 100dB is sometimes normal. I do not want to build it on the ground, I want to keep the little garage below (there where once was the pigsty). So I'm thinking to build a new floor at 2m from the ground (todays floor of the storege room at 3,30). Therefore my control room could be 1,30m higher whats not so bad because of the roof slope.
How can it be done? New (inner) walls (I dont't think the thin framework walls can carry such a weight, too) and steel beans? Again: whats are the cost approximately?
3. Can it be done with aprox. 10.000 Euros (the contruction, two room-in-room constructions, and sound treatment in the recording and control room?
Before I do further research and calculations I need to know if it is possible in princible.
Thanks Thomas
