Kind a simple question on room dimensions.
When working on the overall dimensions say 1:1.14:1.39 is it the outside (shell) room dimension or the inside dimension that you use. I'm going to used soffit mounted main monitors and the monitors are 23"/58.4 cms deep which means the soffit wall will be at least 32-36 inches deep. I'll also have rear wall bass traps that will be around 2-3 ft. deep.
Do I determine the right dimension ratio from the outside (shell) walls or from the soffit and bass trap walls?
Room Dimensions

Room dimensions are measured from the inner surface of your inner LEAF, excluding anything else that might be attached to the inner leaf, such as, absorbers, bass traps, resonators, or any other type of acoustic treatment.
In other words, it is the finished surface of the drywall that makes up your inner leaf. That is the ROOM dimension, or more accurately the inner-leaf dimension. Anything you add afterwards is INSIDE the room, and therefore is not part of the inner leaf, so you don't consider it in the dimensions for your room ratio.
I think you might be confusing your terminology here. You have an outer shell (or outer leaf) which is often just the outer surface of the building itself. Then you have an inner shell (or inner leaf) that you construct, usually with a stud frame and a few layers of drywall. The surface of this drywall that faces the room, is what determines your room dimensions. Only THEN do you have your soffit panels at the front, and bass trapping at the back. If you post a diagram of how you intend building your room, then the experts here can check it to make sure that there are no issues with it. - Stuart -Do I determine the right dimension ratio from the outside (shell) walls or from the soffit and bass trap walls?
