I've been triying to research this matter however the search function didn't allow me to search for any of those words :x So basically. I'm triying to understand what are the benefits of slot walls, instead of leaving the walls alone and installing typical broadband absorbers . If Slot walls are desired, what are the common place to install? Also, correct me if i'm wrong: Should making a wood framing attached directly to the existing wall, filling it with insulation, puting a fabric cover and then the slots is the way to build them? Thanks a lot ! - Javier

huh?

With slotwalls, do you mean Helmoltz resonaters? Like tuned slots? IF so, the word "tuned" was the give-away. Yes, you can TUNE a resonater for frequency absorbing.
If Slot walls are desired, what are the common place to install?
There where the modes to trap are most active. But in general, it doesn't matter *that* much. Resonaters usually are tuned to lower frequency ranges. That's where they do excellent jobs. Since low frequency is most active in the corner of a room, placing it in or around it would be a good idea.

Sure, you can. Remember, slotresonaters are closed devices. Have you checked the "acoustics" part of this forum yet? There's loads of info you might wanna check.
The search doesnt allow for either "wall" or "slot" :( Yes, I've been seeing John's 3d designs where the WHOLE wall was a slot resonator, like the 2 side walls, so thats why I wanted to research more about. I know what resonators are made for, but I found curious seeing a whole wall made of it, instead a of a movile panel like normal absorbers
If I may... This is the way I view them. Slot/slat resonators/absorbers are another tool in the belt. They can be used to focus in on a particular frequency range problem while being relatively transparent to others (more so with frequencies that are below the tuned frequency).. or you can make them more of a broadband nature to attack a wider range of frequencies, but without creating a high frequency vacuum as with porous absorbers. http://www.saecollege.de/reference_mate ... encies.htm There is also a calculator here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1363 By playing around with it, you'll get the idea pretty fast. Have Fun! Seamus
