hello all, first off let me introduce myself. my name is Joe but i'm known professionally as Audissey or DJ Audissey. I am a producer / engineer / artist in hawaii and i'm planning on expanding my studio out of my home so i can capitalize on all the clients i lose due to me not wanting to bring them in my home. i primarily produce reggae and r&b / neo-soul but i occasionally dip into a little bit of everything. but, enough about me.
i'm looking to start building in september so i have a lot of time to plan. i'm gonna spend about $60,000 on equipment and construction (i get labor really cheap as my dad and grandad and all there friends are carpenters (i'm the only one who isn't into construction, i just construct music haha!).
anyway, i've priced out my gear and i've spend about $35,000. now, i am flexible but i'm trying to work out a deal with the company i'm leasing space from where i pay the year in advance. onto details...
the bay is 960sqft. (about 20'w, 48'L) and 2 stories high, i'm not 100% sure of the measurements. i can build 2 stories (and plan too) but the top can only be 1/3 of the bottom. i want a lounge / showroom, control room, and live / vocal room with a drum iso booth or visa versa...it will be a building in a bay (there is a main door and a roll up door, the roll up door will not open). upstairs i will have an office and a practice / lesson room.
if anyone can help me with some ideas, i will greatly appreciate it! thats about all the info i can get as of now. OH, also, the system is based around a Tascam DM-4800 and i dont want the console facing the window (if glass isn't too expensive). if not, i'll op for a cam / monitor system.
thanks!!!!
need some help with my studio venture...
