Hi John, thanks for sharing your knowledge and designs! I am adding a couple of iso rooms and wandering what the size and design should be. I will use the rooms for either vox, upright bass and or a horn player. I record mostly acoustic music. My room is 20x 30 with 12' ceiling. Also I am not sure if I should go the full 12' ceiling height, for inside the booth or, build them with an 8' roof??? Here is a picture there are doors both to the left and right of the 2 monitor speakers.
Hi Jim. Welcome. There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to do to assure getting as many responses as possible. The announcement leads to this post (click here). Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will not reply if you don't do what is written in that post. Many others who are very helpful, will not reply out of respect for the moderators' wishes. - Stuart -
Tnx Stuart! Done!!!
WHat space have you got available? Try using a common room ratio with the 12ft celiing hieght as see the result. then try it with 8ft. I would assume the double bass player would need the most room?

Plan 1 The room is 20x30. So I was thinking along the lines ( three 5x6 iso with an 8 ft. ceiling.) I would keep drums in the larger space so these iso would be for vox, horn and upright bass. Not sure of construction ie is the same framing shared by all the 3 booths as they stand together shared materials etc.? Plan 2 Build a drum booth, forget about the iso's and keep the rest of the acoustic instruments out in the larger part of the room. Thanks for the input!!
I still don't understand the purpose of the room: Is it a practice room? tracking room? Live room? Control room? some combination of the above? Without even knowing what the room is meant to be, it's really hard for folks here to offer advice on how to design it and build it! - Stuart -
That pic looks like a combo control/live room. If you having trouble with bleed from the drums on all tracks? Or bleed on to the vocal track only? If you had the money you could put a glass door partion in. at full height to act as a drum booth. But it could open up when you wanted use of the space.
