i am a student of architectural design. I am currently designing a building which has a resturaunt on the first floor, and a music production office and studio on the second. after not being able to find much useful information, i stumbled on this website. if you could please, tell me some basic design tips for studios. it can have a maximum of 4000 sq tf. but must also require offices, bathrooms, etc... but what are the different rooms i would need? how large should, or can they be? how thick should i make the walls, and what kind of materials should i use for weight bearing, and acoustical design? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
Well studio builds structure's are a bit different than your average construction. I would start by using the search tool up top to find out about MSM/ MAM, wall leafs, decoupling, etc. Then refer to this viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2125, hope that gets you started -Ian
thanks much. ill do some research on that.
Hai Elvis, you definitively came to the right source. This is all about studio architecture. As "the chief" pointed out, it's a whole different game than your average building design. There's plenty of good info here, for you to learn. Extend your knowledge, become a studio architect :) Where ye from? (or: have you checked them stickies yet?)
im from the inland empire in CA, and i study at Westwood College, in upland.

I guess not.
you are asking way too much for a topic... this can go on and on and on, particularly since you are mixing studio design with building acoustics and possible noise disturbance. Go to your library and get some books on this matter for studio design Recording Studio Design - Newell Handbook of acoustics - Everest
